Printer's Row Brewing carries a name that hasn't matched its address in years — homebrewers Virgilio Mazzeo and John Wolf started out selling beer to South Loop bars and restaurants under that name, did a stint brewing at Lake Effect, and eventually opened their own taproom 11 miles northwest in Jefferson Park, keeping the original branding rather than rebuilding it around wherever they ended up.

A barrel-aged Cannonball Porter and a lime-zested Party Parrot wit, brewed on-site on a 4-barrel system at a bare-bones taproom that lets guests bring in outside food.

The space itself is deliberately unfussy — a four-barrel brewing system, a few tables, a bar, a couple of TVs, no kitchen of its own. Beautiful Rind supplies cheese, olives, pickles, and crackers, and the taproom is openly fine with guests bringing in food from nearby spots like Earl's BBQ or Hagen's Fish Market, which is a more generous policy than most breweries bother extending. The beer list leans toward things with actual personality: an 81 West IPA, a Party Parrot wit cut with lime zest, an Out of Sorts brown ale infused with vanilla, and a Cannonball Porter that also gets a barrel-aged version.

Brewer Virgilio Mazzeo has talked about the taproom's community ties around its anniversary celebrations, framing it less as a destination bar and more as a neighborhood fixture that happens to brew its own beer. No happy hour turned up in research, and hours run narrow — closed Monday and Tuesday entirely, open from mid-afternoon or early evening the rest of the week. Plans for a sidewalk patio and to-go crowlers were in the works as of the most recent coverage found — worth checking on a return visit.
