📍 2131 S Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60616

Phoenix is one of Chinatown's dim-sum anchors, the kind of place NBC Chicago describes with lines stretching down Archer Avenue on a Sunday morning.

Carts and a full menu run all day rather than a strict morning-only window, though regulars know to arrive early on weekends when everything's freshest off the steamer.

The pork buns, shu mai loaded with large shrimp, and salted egg buns are the dishes worth prioritizing — reviewers note the kitchen can be inconsistent, but when it's on, it's genuinely great, which is about as honest an endorsement as a decades-deep Chinatown institution gets.
