Garland Lucas, who grew up in Roseland and spent his earlier career on the railroad, opened the shop in December 2024 and now runs it with his daughter Kamillah — a real family operation, not a franchise trying on a novelty gimmick. The nitrogen ice cream is the hook (made to order, tableside theatrics included), but the shelf of board games is what turns a quick dessert stop into an actual hangout.
It's new enough that most of its reputation is still being built, but a first-place finish and $15,000 prize in the Institute for Justice's 2026 'South Side Pitch' competition — beating out 160-plus other applicants — is a real, independently-judged vote of confidence rather than self-promotion.
