Mukase

Food + DrinkUptown · Ghanaian Community-sourced, unverified
📍 1363 W Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL 60640

Mukase brought real Ghanaian cooking to Uptown when it opened in 2017, and owner Agyeiwaa Frimpong built a menu around the dishes that actually define West African home cooking rather than a watered-down version for a general crowd: jollof rice, fufu (a pounded starch dumpling for scooping up stews), fried yams, oxtail, and jerk chicken all showed up on the opening menu per DNAinfo's coverage.

The restaurant seats around 30 people and runs a catering side alongside the dine-in room, a sign it was built to serve the neighborhood's Ghanaian community for events as much as weeknight dinners.

It's since expanded with a second location out in Bolingbrook, a real growth story for a restaurant that started as one storefront on Wilson Avenue.
