The restaurant is named for his great-grandmother Luella Funches, who moved to Chicago from Morgan City, Mississippi in 1943 and whose own advice — animal fat in the cornbread, not butter — still guides the kitchen. Reed earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand and was a 2022 James Beard Awards semifinalist before the move.
Nashville hot chicken and waffles, pancakes, and strawberry cream French toast are the standing draws; pay up front when ordering. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
