Since 2017 it has been the Logan Square answer to a borderlands roadhouse, with a second location on Clark Street in Andersonville and a basement bar, Golden Teardrops, hidden underneath the original. The orders that define the place are the Tex-Mex ones: $13 Truck Stop Nachos layered with pinto beans, queso, crema and pickled red onions and peppers (add picadillo beef, chorizo or carne asada), a proper chile con queso, and family-style tacos on house tortillas, plus a monthly taco special the servers will walk you through. Vegans get real options — a coconut-milk vegan queso and a make-it-vegan upgrade on the nachos — rather than a single side salad.
The bar is built around agave: a $13 frozen margarita on Corazón blanco, a rotating-flavor frozen mezcal margarita, a frozen swirl of both, a Lonesome Paloma with Campari and grapefruit Jarritos, ranch water, and Old Style or Pacifico by the glass or pitcher. A customer review on the bar's own site mentions happy hour specials, but current days, times and prices couldn't be confirmed, so check with the bar before planning around one. Hours run 11am to 9pm Monday through Thursday, 10am to 11pm Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 9pm Sunday, with weekend brunch on a separate menu.
