L&L Tavern

Iconic/NotableLakeview · Dive Bar Community-sourced, unverified
📍 3207 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60657

L&L Tavern earned a real reputation the hard way: a Lakeview dive bar good enough that reviewers call it a dive that deserves elevated status, with a deep Irish whiskey list, cheap beer, and bartenders who are as much the draw as the drinks.

A deep Irish whiskey selection and cheap beer at a dive bar Anthony Bourdain visited on The Layover

It's drinks-only, no food, and Anthony Bourdain made it a stop on The Layover's 2011 Chicago episode — one more credential for a bar that's also wrapped up in genuine Chicago crime lore, tied by neighborhood legend to both Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy having been patrons.

It's the kind of bar whose reputation runs on atmosphere and history rather than a kitchen.
