Gaslight Coffee Roasters occupies a triangular corner building where Milwaukee and Fullerton converge in Logan Square, and the room itself does a lot of the work: wide-plank floors, exposed brick and beams, reclaimed wood, vintage lanterns, and the occasional piece of taxidermy, built out by owners Tristan Coulter and Zak Rye after they left Metropolis Coffee to roast their own beans.

Full albums played start to finish instead of a shuffled playlist, in-house roasted coffee, and pastries sourced from Aya Pastry and Do-Rite Donuts, inside a reclaimed-wood corner building at the Milwaukee/Fullerton triangle.

The coffee program runs through in-house roasts alongside a rotating cast of guest roasters — lattes, cortados, a lavender latte, espresso tonic, and cold brew all get specific praise from regulars — paired with pastries brought in from Aya Pastry and Do-Rite Donuts rather than anything baked in-house. The detail that actually sets the vibe, though, is musical: staff play full albums start to finish rather than a shuffled coffee-shop playlist, turning a quick coffee stop into something closer to a listening room.

It's been running since 2012, long enough to be a genuine Logan Square fixture rather than a trend that's since faded.
