The menu is built for sharing: half a dozen hummus variations (classic, spicy piquillo, seasonal ones like pumpkin with brown-butter tahina, a lamb ragu version), spreads like spicy whipped feta with muhammara, raw crudos, green falafel, hot honey halloumi and shawarma-spiced bowls, finished with the warm sticky date cake regulars order every time. Weekday happy hour is the clever way in. Monday through Friday from 3 to 5pm, dine-in only, everything on the short happy hour list is $9: classic cocktails (a house martini with vodka or gin, a paloma with tequila or mezcal, an old fashioned with bourbon or rye), sommelier-selected wines including Ēma's own house bottlings from Santa Barbara and the Peloponnese, and mezze that only appear during happy hour — classic or spicy hummus with house bread, feta and olives with marcona almonds, crispy wild mushrooms with black lime and green chili crema, and house-made sweet potato fries.

Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 10am, and the restaurant is known to send out a birthday dessert if you mention the occasion. Expect Lettuce's standard 3.5% check surcharge, removable on request.
