The bar opened July 9, 2026 at 819 N. California Ave., right on the border between Ukrainian Village and Humboldt Park, and it arrived with a claim worth testing: one of the largest tequila and mezcal collections in the city. The room itself does a lot of the selling — orange velvet, curved banquettes, glass chandeliers, and tropical greenery, a theatrical, slightly maximalist space that earned Time Out a 4-out-of-5-star rating and matches the bar's name. The drink list leans inventive rather than classic: the Offline Crush is a mezcal sour built with salted cucumber juice, lime, green cardamom, and mint, while For Funsies takes the espresso martini format and runs it through tequila instead of vodka.
Most cocktails land around $12, reasonable for a bar this design-forward. There's no food menu — this is a drinks-first destination, 21-and-up, walk-ins only, open Thursday through Sunday starting at 6pm and running as late as 3am on Saturdays. Being this new, Drama Club hasn't yet built out a visible social media or web presence beyond opening-week press, so the room and the drinks are still doing all the talking for now.
