Do-Rite started in February 2012, when Jeff Mahin and Francis Brennan (then working together at the two-Michelin-star L2O) opened a tiny counter on Randolph Street in the Loop, with a rule that still holds: small batches, fried all day, nothing held over. The case covers the classics, buttermilk and chocolate old fashioneds, vanilla bean glazed, Valrhona chocolate cake, Boston cream and a Michigan apple fritter, plus the seasonal 'donut of the moment.' What sets Do-Rite apart for families is the allergy side: gluten-free donuts (chocolate glazed, cinnamon sugar, double chocolate) are fried in a completely separate fryer, and vegan orange olive oil and maple chai donuts are on the regular menu.
