Da Local Boy started as a Hawaiian fusion food truck before Nate and Dianne opened their first sit-down location in September 2021, adding a Highwood spot in May 2024 alongside this Loop location on South Franklin — one of genuinely few Hawaiian spots downtown.

The best Hawaiian food in the city isn't really up for debate once you've had it — come hungry, the portions don't play around.

Breakfast-and-lunch-only (closed weekends), spam musubi and a short rib-and-shrimp surf-and-turf plate are the standouts, huge lunch portions built for the Loop's midday office crowd specifically.
