📍 4219 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60641

Chicago Taco Authority opened in January 2018 a block from the Irving Park Blue Line stop, and the name is a statement of intent from owner Jose Bustos: straightforward, street-style Mexican food without the fusion gimmicks some newer taco spots lean on.

The lineup sticks to the classics done well — asada steak, al pastor, chicken tinga, shrimp and fish tacos, plus rice-and-bean combos and a Southwest taco salad for anyone who wants a fork instead of tortillas. A churro order closes things out.

It picked up an early following on Yelp right out of the gate and has kept a live online-ordering presence since, running a steady lunch-through-evening window for pickup. No happy hour or standing discount here — just a neighborhood taqueria that's been quietly turning out good tacos on Irving Park Road for years.
