The result, on Western Avenue at the Logan Square/Bucktown line, is a Michelin Guide-listed bar where crab rangoon, Mongolian beef and kung pao arrive next to genuinely ambitious cocktails like a lemongrass gimlet or a mezcal-and-singani 'ChiChi Colada.' Happy hour runs every day from 5 to 6pm and it's built around the snacks: two-piece pork-and-shrimp egg rolls, vegetable spring rolls and crab rangoon for $9 each, dan dan noodles with pork and peanuts for $15, dry-fried green beans for $11 and vegetable lo mein for $12. Drinks are a chef's old fashioned with black cherry for $11, a Midori sour for $10, Sapporo on draft for $6 and a $50 bottle of lambrusco — and the best deal on the board is the $12 'slow roll,' a shot of whiskey or tequila with a can of Hamm's and an egg roll or spring roll.
Groups of 7 to 12 can book the family-style 'Rose Menu,' takeout and delivery are available, and the bar runs 5 to 11pm Monday through Saturday and until 10pm Sunday.
