Co-owner Ozzy Gámez built it around community as much as coffee, and the room hosts local cultural workshops alongside the morning counter rush. It's also one of the city's better places to sit down with a laptop, which the reviews mention constantly. The menu is Latin American-inspired and specific. Café de olla ($4.25) brings cinnamon and real spice, hot or iced; café con leche is the same price; and the house Casa Latte ($6) is an iced latte sweetened with piloncillo and spices. The cult order is the horchata latte ($6), dairy-free and made in collaboration with Backlot Coffee.
Fall brings a seasonal lineup (a cajeta latte, a pumpkin 'latte de calabaza,' a hot-honey cacao cold brew). Food runs to baked empanadas (guava and cheese, fig and cheese, beef habanero), chorizo or ham bolillos ($5) and conchas, with pastries changing daily. Hours are 7AM to 4PM on weekdays and 8AM to 4PM on weekends. There's no running deal; the prices are already the deal. They also host private parties.
