Brewpoint began in September 2014 when founder Melissa Villanueva, browsing Craigslist for an espresso machine, found a whole coffee shop for sale instead and opened the first cafe with her husband Angelo. It has grown into a woman-owned, AAPI-owned Elmhurst company with several cafes, its own roastery, an event space and a book, Starting and Running a Coffee Shop, with a mission of creative drinks and cafes that strengthen the community. The menu is the Brewpoint core: espresso drinks built on the house Acrobat blend, drip from the roastery's single origins and seasonal blends, plus pastries, with the rotating seasonal drinks, right now pumpkin spice, a taffy apple chai and a maple butter matcha.
Hours follow the library's rhythm: 9am to 6pm Monday through Thursday, until 5pm Friday, until 4pm Saturday and 1 to 4pm on Sunday, with mobile ordering through the Brewpoint app. The roastery's bags are on hand too, from the Acrobat and the dark Stargazer to the limited fall Arborist blend with notes of plum, rhubarb and saffron, if you want to take the library-cafe coffee home.
