The restaurant is built around a working butcher shop rather than just borrowing steakhouse language, with a French- and German-inspired brasserie menu leaning on sustainably and responsibly raised meats and house-made artisanal products that change seasonally. Happy Haus runs daily from 3:30 to 5:30pm with its own discounted menu, and Monday night brings Industry Night Specials for service-industry regulars rather than being a night the restaurant goes dark -- only Tuesday is actually closed.
Starting in July 2024, the restaurant added a 22% service fee to every bill, which it says was driven directly by City of Chicago ordinances and is meant to guarantee fairer pay for front- and back-of-house staff, with any additional tip going straight to the front-of-house team.
