Bel Ami

Food + DrinkLincoln Square · Bosnian Community-sourced, unverified
📍 5530 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60625

Bel Ami runs Lincoln Square's rare entry in Chicago's small but real Bosnian coffeehouse scene — a bar, cafe, and restaurant rolled into one, with a patio that keeps the format feeling more European than the standard neighborhood tavern.

$$

Time Out calls out the grilled meat specialties and the coffee drinks in the same breath, which tracks with how Bosnian cafes are built: a place for a long coffee in the afternoon that converts into a bar by night. Hours reportedly run long, into the early-morning stretch, which fits a format built around lingering rather than turning tables fast.

Chicago is tied with St. Louis for the largest Bosnian population outside Europe, concentrated on the North Side, and a spot like this is part of why that community still has a real public gathering place.
