Margarita Monday runs $9 margaritas, but the actual pitch is Chef Katsuji Tanabe — a Top Chef alum born and raised in Mexico City, trained alongside the private chefs who cooked for the city's elite, who founded Mexikosher, a kosher taqueria in Beverly Hills, before landing here.

Chicken and churros with chipotle maple syrup is a genuinely unexpected combination, and tableside guac makes the whole meal feel like an event.

That background shows up as a robata grill and pan-Latin detours worked into what reads as Mexican on the menu, not a straight recreation of anyone's abuela's recipes.

DineAmic Hospitality (Luke Stoioff and David Rekhson) opened it in 2017 at the corner of Clark and Kinzie, sharing the building with their Italian concept Siena Tavern next door — same ownership, two genuinely different kitchens under one roof.
