The name itself is a wink -- aboyer means "to bark" in French, playful branding for a chef whose training was anything but casual. Lachowicz cut his teeth at Cafe Provencal and Le Francais, working at the stoves of the latter under the legendary Jean Banchet, before striking out on his own. That lineage came full circle in 2019, when George Trois became the first suburban restaurant to win Restaurant of the Year at the Jean Banchet Awards -- named for the chef Lachowicz once cooked under.
On the Aboyer side, the brasserie menu runs through coq au vin, cassoulet, charcuterie, and Faroe Island salmon, with diners singling out the pork chop and the burger. Lachowicz has since expanded the block further, opening the casual taqueria Fondita Miguel nearby with partners Miguel Escobar and Sergio Angel.
